Preheat oven to 425°F.
Line a 9” pie pan with one of the two pie crusts in the box.
Mix the sugar, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg, and flour in a large bowl.
Peel, core, and slice the apples and toss them in the sugar mixture, coating them well.
Remove additional pie crust and set aside to thaw.
Fill main pie crust with apple mixture and mound slightly.
Break up little pieces of butter and sprinkle them around.
Take additional pie crust that was set aside, place on cutting board and cut into long strips.
Take those strips and cover apples in the main pie crust, weave in lattice design.
Bake 15 minutes in the preheated oven.
Reduce the temperature to 350°F. Continue baking for 35 to 40 minutes, until apples are tender and the crust is browned.
